Every year in early December, we retrieve our big box of Christmas decorations down from the attic. When it comes to decorating the tree, everyone in the family has their own favourite. Seeing the decorations again after nearly a year is like being reunited again with old friends. Each decoration has its own story – the crocheted tree from Norway, the green wooden St. Nicholas and yellow wooden bauble from Prague, the woollen clowns and Santas made by my Great Auntie Ninny, the pink flamingo from Miriam, the clay angel from Pennsylvania, the beaded star from the Houses of Parliament, the ceramic tree from Keswick Market, the fabric drums, the willow stars and wooden stars and homemade papier mache discs and foil shapes, and Henry’s little engine… Some are nearly 30 years old, others are more recent, but we we love them all.
Available from October-December as greetings cards from my website shop.
